Emily and Andy’s clothes

So at the beginning of the film, Emily makes it known that the best part of being the first assistant is to be able to go with Miranda to Paris where she will receive lots of free clothes. And of course, she is upset with Andy for taking her position later on in the movie.
But what’s the point in being a first assistant anyway if the second assistant (Andy) gets lots of free clothes as well? When she received a makeover, she got a wardrobe full of new clothes. She obviously can’t afford them due to her horrible pay (as she discussed with her dad), so it’s safe to assume they were free. Isn’t Emily able to do the same?

Probably too full of herself to accept help.

The free clothes available in Paris are much more expensive than the free clothes available in the magazine freebie room. They even have serious resale valuable, at the end of the movie she sold the clothes on ebay for thousands of dollars.
