I like this film, too. IMO, Captain American 1 and 2, along with the Agent Carter spinoff, are easily the MCU's best story and really capture the comic book "feel".
Iron Man, Thor and The Avengers all had really lacklustre sequels.
Due to the lack of moderators, trolls can ruin the IMDB message boards. Don't feed them.
I feel it is underrated. The current score on IMDb of 6.8 is a little unkind and deserves to be above 7 in my opinion. Not sure why more folks don't like it as much as we seem to.
I don't think this is quite 10/10 but after watching it again it is one of the best comic book origin tale movies and as far as MCU goes, possibly only surpassed by its sequel, GotG and Avengers since the start off the MCU.
I don't hate it. There's nothing to hate, even the vomit inducing patriotism because, you know, Captain AMERICA.
It's just really "meh". The screenplay is flimsy, the acting incredibly hit and miss, the love story a total waste of everybody's time. It's technically very good, but it's so damn boring.
2. Great way of explaining everything, and why he is in a costume.
3. Liked the casting and directing was adequate.

Had issues with:
1. Lasers, Lasers, Lasers = felt like I was watching the movie Krull
2. Would have liked to seen a campaign of Cap and crew going through the country side to reach the base. Perfect time for character development, and more Peggy!
3. The action scenes were too quick and soulless, hoping in to hit a few stuffed dummies than hop right out, never felt like I was in the scene or on the adventure.Outside of the climax, all the emotional scenes fell flat.
Bottom line:
Wish it was a little more ambitious and less slaving for the mainstream. It hit all the marks to be enjoyable, but I expect a filmmakers goal to be more than "just not make it suck", and make a more engaging film. 6.5 in my opinion
