Just watched this again, seriously considering giving it 10/10

Cap has always been my favourite Avenger, and as a CBM I can't find fault with his MCU debut. Any opinions (not nit picks)?

This is my 3rd fav film of the entire MCU. The fact it isnt a comedy fest like IM3, GOTG, Thor 2 makes it worthy enough to be an elite film

reply

I like this film, too. IMO, Captain American 1 and 2, along with the Agent Carter spinoff, are easily the MCU's best story and really capture the comic book "feel".

Iron Man, Thor and The Avengers all had really lacklustre sequels.

Due to the lack of moderators, trolls can ruin the IMDB message boards. Don't feed them.

I have given it 10/10. One of the best CBMs ever.

I feel it is underrated. The current score on IMDb of 6.8 is a little unkind and deserves to be above 7 in my opinion. Not sure why more folks don't like it as much as we seem to.

I don't think this is quite 10/10 but after watching it again it is one of the best comic book origin tale movies and as far as MCU goes, possibly only surpassed by its sequel, GotG and Avengers since the start off the MCU.

This is a great, old-fashioned adventure that towers above other origin films in all honesty.

I don't hate it. There's nothing to hate, even the vomit inducing patriotism because, you know, Captain AMERICA.

It's just really "meh". The screenplay is flimsy, the acting incredibly hit and miss, the love story a total waste of everybody's time. It's technically very good, but it's so damn boring.

I gave this a 10/10 when it first came out and still like it that much.

I just watched it again, and I feel the same. It's good scene after good scene, with not much to argue about.

A great first step in what is sure to be the best trilogy any character has ever been in. Just a few short months away from official confirmation.

Just saw it again here are the high and lowlights

1. Peggy is the best!

2. Great way of explaining everything, and why he is in a costume.

3. Liked the casting and directing was adequate.

---

Had issues with:

1. Lasers, Lasers, Lasers = felt like I was watching the movie Krull

2. Would have liked to seen a campaign of Cap and crew going through the country side to reach the base. Perfect time for character development, and more Peggy!

3. The action scenes were too quick and soulless, hoping in to hit a few stuffed dummies than hop right out, never felt like I was in the scene or on the adventure.Outside of the climax, all the emotional scenes fell flat.

Bottom line:

Wish it was a little more ambitious and less slaving for the mainstream. It hit all the marks to be enjoyable, but I expect a filmmakers goal to be more than "just not make it suck", and make a more engaging film. 6.5 in my opinion

reply

The two films that followed only make this movie even stronger.

I agree about the lasers. Needed more bullets and less lasers.
