Where was Sgt. Fury?
It's been a long time...I cant remember how the story went....
shareWell, since the majority of the film is set during the early part of World War II, he wasn't born yet. He appears at the very end, when Rogers finds himself in modern times.

Not in the Marvel Cinematic Universe he wasn't. Even if an ancestor of Nick Fury was around, few men in the 1940's would follow the orders of a black man.

Gabe probably shouldn't have even been in the squad. Blacks were pretty much segregated into their own units. But Fury's grandfather could have been white.
