I used to think Captain America was a lame Super Hero

I'm in the exact same situation
The movie that got me into the MCU was 'Iron Man', I saw it by chance on TV around 2012, and by that point all the movies up to 'Avengers' were out, so I started watching them all, and I was dreading 'Captain America' to the point that I skipped it in favour of 'Avengers', assuming I'd hate it.
But the character of Cap really grew on me in 'Avengers' so I went back and watched the previous movie, and not only did I like it, I like it a lot more than most people do.
I feel that 'Captain America: The First Avenger' is actually one of the best movies Marvel has ever turned out, and it completely blew my expectations away. For years I've assumed Captain America to be a dopey character, the sort of guy that punches Red Skull in the face and then reminds the readers to eat their vegetables
But the movies proved to me that he looks dopey but can still be a really competent and really well-written hero

Captain America is a good hero and not a violent type like Wolverine is.

I never thought he sucked, though at the same time I never imagined that he was one day going to be anywhere close to being my favorite. I mean he surprised me in The First Avenger, impressed me in The Avengers, and in The Winter Soldier he absolutely wowed me. He's become one of the greatest characters in superhero movie history.

On a side note, he's not violent? I beg to differ. He may not be a loose cannon like Wolverine, but he certainly has no problem beating (hell, he's got his own kill count as well) the living daylights out of anyone who faces him... including old friends like Tony Stark.

I used to think the same way when The First Avenger came out, but the movie completely changed my mind. Now, Cap is on of my favorite comic book characters.
