It's clear Captain America holds the title of BEST TRILOGY ever made

As little as five years ago, who would have ever put money on this fact? With Civil War now an official instant classic the trilogy is complete. Amazing.

Those of us that knew the character knew of the depth and complexity present in his mythos but even fans had to wonder if any studio could ever do the character justice. Well, the best case scenario has occurred. Everything fell together perfectly in terms of talent.

Joe Johnston was the perfect first director to helm the origin story given his Rocketeer and Raiders of the Lost Ark resume. Add that the cast came together as if it were fate. Actors like John Krasinski fell by the waste side as Chris Evans put aside his fears and Marvel looked past his Human Torch days and spotted the absolutely perfect embodiment of Steve Rogers. Add really unknown talents like Haley Atwell and Sebastian Stan and casting was beyond a home run. Veterans like Tommy Lee Jones, Toby Jones and Stanley Tucci were wonderful and smartly injected in to the story.

Then, Marvel intelligently shifted gears and tapped two unknown TV guys to direct Winter Soldier. Everyone at the time was puzzled that the guys from Community and Arrested Development would be handed Captain America after The Avengers movie. Marvel was mocked by the competition for the move. Man, talk about finding talent. The Russo’s may be the best young directors to break in to Hollywood since young Spielberg unveiled his Jawsmania.

By using the same talent but adding to it with Civil War, Marvel has given the Russos the keys to everything and the budget and talent to back their vision. What results is Civil War and what most people are calling the greatest superhero film ever made. It all built to this with every film getting even better from a very high starting point with First Avenger.

Those correctly labeling this the best trilogy of all-time certainly have been paying attention and they are 100% correct.

Although I did like the Civil War, I was sad that they closed the Captain America trilogy with that movie. Cap was lost in an ensemble cast of Avengers. Captain America's third movie should have spent more screen time on Captain America and truly just let him shine.

I just wanted more of Cap being his awesome heroic self rather than being a fugitive and fighting with his friends.

It was definitely more of am Avenger's movie than a Captain America movie.

THANK YOU I thought I was the only one who thought and was severely disappointed by the final product. To me people think this is as great as Return of the King while I say its more Return of the Jedi even the tone is more align with Jedi and its constant levity. For me if they had to do this story, make it really about Cap and see it from his point of view much like how Robert De Niro was handled in Taxi Driver. it would give it the darker and sharper edge that it desperately needed instead of that imbalance of humor and darkness that they constantly do and can never seem to get right (i.e. Thor: The Dark World and Iron Man 3).

I agree.

I agree a 100% OP.

Civil War wasn't even the best Captain America movie, let alone the best super hero movie.

Hands down, this is the start of the best trilogy that we've seen.

Have you guys not seen Lord of the Rings or Star Wars? How about Indiana Jones?

This is a great trilogy. But certainly not the best ever.

If you said best super hero trilogy ever then you'd have an argument. But even then I'd cite TDK trilogy as better.

But again, it's a great trilogy and it does deserve high praise.

AMEN TO THAT, brother!

1. This isn't the best trilogy in cinema. It's not even the best superhero trilogy. Nolan's Batman is still unbeatable.

2. This trilogy contains of two good movies and one mediocre movie, thus it's not even a great trilogy, since not all of three movies are great.

3. Grow up.

You have to be a total Nolan fan to believe the Dark Knight Rises is a great movie. Your comment

Easily applies to the DK trilogy.

And what is wrong with being a Nolan fan? Not that much different from being a Marvel movie fan. The Dark Knight Rises has 8.5 on IMDB, which is higher than vast majority of MCU movies. So, is your point going to be, "Oh, but ratings don't matter", which would be funny, considering that MCU fanboys always bring up the fact that MCU movies mostly receive positive reviews from critics.

Easily applies to the DK trilogy.

As far as I know, The Dark Knight trilogy contains of two great movies and the one that is good. First Avenger is not good. It's okay at best. So yeah, The Dark Knight trilogy is still the best superhero trilogy, like it or not. But what can I expect from someone who gave Iron Man 3 ten out of ten.

The Dark Knight and Lord of the Rings trilogies are slightly better imo.
