How to watch this

I know the release order of the episodes isn't chronological, but what is the best way to watch this show? Should I watch in chronological order, or was this meant to be watched in the order the episodes were released?

I'm halfway through Season 5, having watched everything in the chronological order on starwars.com.

I'd recommend you do the same, the release order makes no sense - it's not like there are any big reveals or twists that would justify why they were written/aired out of order. There might be, say, a battle on a planet, then half a season later there's a "prequel" episode showing the lead up to the battle. May as well watch them in chronological order.

Also if you're watching for the first time... stick with it, some episodes/arcs are really bad and/or boring (especially season 1, but there are ropey episodes in every season) but overall the series improves as it progresses.

Thanks. It just seems so odd to me that they would release them in such a weird order if that's not how they should be watched.

Yep, I don't have an explanation for that! It's not like they were aired out of order to create mystery/twists/intrigue because.... well, I don't think there are any! There are a couple of clone-focused episodes which I guess make sense to fill in the backstory for a particular squad, but otherwise the release order is just distracting and confusing especially when it picks up on conflicts that were already resolved several episodes ago.
