Not an interesting show

In my opinion, I don't think this show is very entertaining. I'm very surprised at the rating it has. I would give it like 3 stars. I mean what's to know about protecting your house? I mean just get some good locks and windows and an alarm system and you should be fine right? Why protect the inside if no one can even get in? Anyone feel like saying why they like this so much?

It teaches you to use those alarms and locks.
Some of these houses had alarm systems, dog and video systems...the owners never armed them and the guy gets in.
Having a dog may be well...when the guys comes in the house and can lure a dog into the basemet...the dog is usless.

Yeah I was talking to my sister today about this show and how I don't find it ammusing. She said I'd probably find it more interesting if I had a house and that way I'd had to deal with that kinda stuff. But seeing as how I don't have one, I don't find this intersting.

As somebody who has been through a breakin, this show teaches a lot of techniques to deter thieves. I live in a townhouse and cannot install a full-blown alarm system. I always locked my doors and windows, which I always thought was enough. However, the thief still got in.

Watching the very first episode, I could see why I was so vulnerable. My back porch faces an open lot at the corner of an intersection. At the time, there was no gate that I could lock (thanks to my landlord). As a result, the thief had enough cover from the fenced in porch to break my basement window and go in. While there was no gate, people driving by would be paying attention to the intersection and not noticing anything through the opening.

There is a lot that I've learned since watching the show, both in what I could do and what I was doing wrong. I now have a safe and don't leave important documents and information just laying around. I had spare keys all over. The thief had gone through the kitchen drawer where the spare key and remote for my Jeep were located. He could have easily come back later and taken my Jeep without my knowing it. I also had a couple boxes of checks sitting out on my desk. He could have easily used those to wipe out my bank account. I've also learned not to leave my blinds and doors open at night when I'm home. The thief (who was later caught) used to hang out at my neighbors' and used to be out in the front yard a lot. With my front door open in the evenings as well as the blinds in my living room, he was able to case my place without my knowing it. I also have loud motion alarms installed and security stickers on my doors and windows. My landlord also had a gate installed, and I keep it locked at all times.
