No Letterman?

The finale included much of the New York celebrity population so I was surprised not to see David Letterman in any capacity.

Seeing Letterman would have been cool. Think we will see Colbert on the daily show as a guest some time before he takes over the tonight show?

I know my spelling sucks so get over it

Oh yeah, along with Letterman, I'm surprised Steve Carell didn't show up.

reply

Maybe Dave was filming his show around the same time Colbert was filming his.

reply

In theory, but Dave has a lot of authority and ability to adjust his taping time. I also suspect the approximately 100 other guests had things to do also.

I'm not saying there should have been any focus on Dave, just a bit surprised that most of the "who's who" of New York were there but he wasn't.

reply

Maybe it's hard on Dave to be passing the torch to Stephen. But still it would have been a nice show of support to his successor and a way to show that he, Letterman, has made peace with the whole thing.

I never watched the Letterman show, but it is weird that his reign is ending. So, now even Carson's successor is in the twilight of his years.
