Det. Dick Tracy

Doesn't he come back in another episode of The Closer, or Major Crimes. I thought I remember seeing him again. Or did the actor play a similar character in another show? The Closer 5x6

reply

Yes, he returns in Major Crimes, S3, Ep3, "Frozen Assets".
I just watched this episode a few days ago! LOL

I always chuckle when I think of that episode.

Actually, he identified himself to Pope, Provenza and Flynn as Det. Richard Tracey. It was when Pope was on the phone looking for Det. Richard Tracey that Brenda says "Are you telling me you gave over evidence to Det. DICK Tracey?"

And the light dawns on all three of them. A very funny scene. I really loved the Provenza/Flynn semi-comedy episodes. It helped lighten the show a lot.

I'm presently binge watching Crime Story which features Tony Denison ( Det. Flynn) as mobster Ray Luca. Check out the Elvis look on steroids.

Go 7 years after that and you've got him paying Joey Buttafuoco.

Correct. It was the other way around.
Still makes me chuckle.

Also, yes there weren't many episodes in The Closer, but the Provenza/Flynn episodes were always a much need comic relief and the episodes were always so light hearted.

Yep, I loved Provenza/Flynn episodes, even when the Closer transitioned into Major Crimes. Our two elder detectives were more serious than the Closer, but they still could generate that whimsy and humor; one of the great things about both series. They could address very serious and disturbing issues and still do comedy. (ex: There's No Place Like Home)
