Ashwariya's performance was great.

who agrees with me?

ughh no her acting sucked. She can only play two types of characters an innocent naive tart or a smart sarcastic ass....

As ebert said, she only had 3 expressions on her face throughout the whole movie.

For crying out loud... Only a pompous, pedantic moron like Ebert could make comment such as this and it shocks me that an "intelligent" person would agree with him. You expect a naive, beaten, abused, small-town, punjabi woman to have a complete range of dramatic expressions? I don't give a damn about how Aishwarya acts in her other movies. She played the part perfectly in sync with the character. Perhaps both of you need to understand..forget understanding, observe Indian culture and behavior before making such inane comments

I'm not a crazy Ash lover, so this is not blind praise.

I think she did fairly well in this movie.

i agree.. she did a fantastic job... an Oscar worthy performance for sure.. these are the type of movies that deserves to hit the Academy Awards..
Kudos to Aishwarya Rai..

yeah i agree, no matter what others said she had a great performance. and what other expression were people looking for. the expression she showed showed that of a women in her character's positon. atleast that's how i feel. her acting brought me to tears, when she expressed pain from her flashbacks i cringed and cried. great acting is my opinion.

I totaly agree- I have never been a fan BUT "Provoked" is proof positive that she can, in fact, REALLY ACT.

Here's to hoping she continues to grow. It's definitley her best work to date.

The woman cannot act, and she was out acted by everybody else in the movie. She is beautiful, but has no screen presence. Nat Cole King said it best:

"Are you warm? Are you real, Mona Lisa?
Or just a cold, and lonely, lovely work of art?"

reply

I loved her work in this movie.
