Why the sub-titles?

I watched the movie at the premier in Bombay yesterday and one thing I found a bit annoying was the sibtitles. They should have been saved for the foreign release. A Hindi movie in Bombay surely doesn't need it.

Maybe it was the accents. Some of the dialogues might be a bit difficult to understand for those who don't speak hindi. Also it's meant for international audiences and festivals as well. I don't think they have seperate prints for each region. Not sure but definitely not for a lower budget movie.
Anyway I don't think subtitles could ruin the movie for you. It was just beautiful.
