where are they filming that scene? i bet that's nice. we had to sit on these hard friggin wooden bleachers, and do every scene at least 9 times. oh all while in a huge metal hangar in direct sunlight when it's 90 degrees outside and they kept turning the fans on and off before and after filming. anyway. who all is in that scene? i had a lot of fun on the set, this was my first time ever doing anything other than radio. i really want to do this as like an actual job.

I was at the Camden shoot....it was very exciting ...I to would love to be an actor or a full time extra.....in Camden, even though it was hot ,just to watch the scenes unfold infront of you is more than words can describe....not to mention when off camera Patric yelled at some kids who were not behaving ...I was also at the Major League 3 shoot in Charleston , but this experience was much better...

I definitely want to hear about the baseball scenes! I submitted our elementary gym teacher (and awesome pitcher I might add!) to be an extra. They called him almost immediately but for the dogfighting scenes NOT baseball. Too bad.

The baseball scene was shot at Inman Mills on June 16, 17. They shot all night. The scenes I watched include Jason Patric and Sam Shepherd. The baseball game is just a backdrop for the scene in the stands. The movie is set in a coal mining town in 1957. The scene opens with a shot of fans entering the gate as a 57 chevy passes in front of the camera. The camera then moves across the street and into the gate where you can see the baseball game in the background. Shepherd's character is then shown walking through the stands taking bets from the fans.

The next day they filmed without all of the extras. Most of the night they had a closed set. They were shooting a dog fight scene and I believe they didn't want people watching. Around 4:00 am they let a few people in. They shot a seen with Patric and Shepherd having an argument/conversation on the mound. Patric was not very happy about the way the scene was going and had several animated conversations with Matt Williams (director). Shepherd just sat in his chair with his arms crossed during these conversations. I believe he was frustrated with Patric.

I don't know much about how this scene will fit in the final cut but I do know this is where Jason Patric (Walker Payne) and Shepherds character meet for the first time. It will be in the first 15 minutes of the movie.

Hi we were there too my husband and I at the baseball field to bad we didn't get to film in Gaffney, although my husband almost got to, he was suppose to be in a mine scene. But it was so hot they just used the extra's they had for that day and canceled the next days extra's. We are Lynn and Jerry Wright from Gaffney, We have a store up town called Game Boyz well we are partners with my daughter Kristen. If you go to this link you can see us on fitting day in our costumes in Gaffney behind the old Brown's store..http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/lynnmwright/album?.dir=1c4e&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/ph//my_photos
I'm with you it was very HOT! and those bleacher's were terrible. At the start I had to stand up at the announcer’s box and pantomime talking to him they shot it about 10 times because someone kept getting out of there place. And a lot of people before we went to the set didn't even know who Jason Patric was so me being the nut I am seen him come out of his camper/dressing room and said for them to look and I would get his attention. This was however before we were told not to look at the stars or stare at them or try to talk to them etc. remember? Anyway I yelled in a low voice Jason and the guy in the blue crew shirt, I think his name was Eric, but I'm not sure "said you can't do that". But I told the rest of the people standing in line. I had spoken to Jason in Gaffney the day before while he was walking his dog {he came right up to me and we chatted a few minutes but of course I didn’t get his autograph because Claudette yelled you have 5 minutes until the next scene.} And I said goodbye and he hurried on. So on the assumption he may remember me when he came back out of his camper/dressing room. I waved at him and smiled and he waved back and gave me that little half smile he does. And I said to the line that's Jason Patric while waving so they would know who he was. I can't believe they all wanted to be in the movie and didn’t even know who the star was! I think he did an awesome job, but Sam Shepared acted like he was an ... won't say it. And he acted very unprofessional. I think he had been drinking beer, not saying he was but he smelled like it. But I enjoyed myself and hope we don't get cut out of the film! But it was an exciting experience. I know now it's not all glamour and lights, well I take that back boy were there lights very hot ones at that. And I bet I drank two gallons of water and the next day I slept until 4:00 PM I lost a whole day. But again it was fun and I'd do it again but my husband says NO WAY IT WASN'T FOR HIM!....LYNN

I was an extra for the final filming on July 9-10 near Youngstown, Ohio. i was told this was the only location they could get to film in a working coal surface mine. there were about 40 of us used as coal miners for opening & closing sequences, and that all other filiming was finished. at 8PM on the 10th, it was declared a wrap.
