Most likely to sort of bookend the narrative of the movie. The beginning has Joe Strombel and Jane Cook on the boat crossing the river Styx and end has Sid Waterman doing card tricks on his way to the afterlife.

No, I can think of another, much earlier one his character died in. I'm not going to tell which one as that would be something of a spoiler.

You should've mentioned that that was a spoiler. Anyway, I think he didn't want to have the Scarlett Johnansen character die again, since she had just been killed in his previous film.

I think real life Woody had a very hard time driving on the wrong side of the road and couldn't see it going any other way for movie Woody.
