Utterly lame, awkward and dull - no?
Surely this has to be Woody's worst film ever! I felt so embarrassed for him watching it. So much of the acting seemed either wooden or desperate, and it was just not very funny!

shareI think it was meant to be kind of cliche and wooden. Not a masterpiece, but i didn't regret watching it... and i mean that sincerely with all due respect from the bottom of my heart.
shareIt's a murder mystery comedy with a bunch of great lines and a fine performance by Scarlett. Woody has done much worse. Have you even seen all his films? I'd suggest watching Hollywood Ending, Deconstructing Harry, Anything Else, Curse of the Jade Scorpion and several others before even mentioning Scoop in the same breath.
shareAnything Else, Jade Scorpion, Shadows and Fog, Interiors, Purple Rose of Cairo, Broadway Danny Rose, Everyone Says I Love You, Zelig - those are the ones I didn't like much.
This, however, was a charmer. It reminds me of Manhattan Murder Mystery crossed with Match Point. It's a familiar, comfortable, old shoe kind of Woody Allen movie. It was a sincere sensation. And I loved the jokes - even the old ones. At least it wasn't pretentious.
i'm not familiar with woody allen movies at all. i found this to be quite embaressing.. the characters didn't have any chemistry. it felt very empty. i did laugh at some of woody's character's lines though.
shareIt is just a simple and small Woody Allen film. Funny and worth watching. I liked it.
shareI thought Scarlett's performance was AWFUL! I like her and everything, but she's not very talented. I can't really think of anything I've seen her in where I really believed her. I think everyone's (especially Woody's) infatuation with her is based on her beauty, not her acting skills.
shareYes, very much so. Like fast food.
