I don't get it

I watched this movie with 4 of my friends, and none of us understood the end.
If anyone can shed some light on this subject, I'd love to know what in the world happened in the last few minutes.
Thanks

I watched it a moment ago and went straight to imdb for an explanation

I may be wrong, but my understanding was that the Ambassador (Gregg Henry) had the "silent partner" file in his possession. Gordon seemed relieved, as though he felt it was in good hands. Apparently the Ambassador cared more about the situation than he let on at first and turned out to be an important behind-the-scenes ally to Gordon all along--his "silent partner."

I think you're right. Maybe the ambassador thought that those who would be incriminated by the "Silent Partner" video would find a way to hack into Patrick's computer and steal the file before Patrick had a chance to open and secure it, so he beat them to the punch and stole it first. He sent the message to Patrick to let Patrick know that the file was in "safe" hands, and in hands that would release it if necessary. Sort of like an "insurance policy." The ending also could have been written as it was to set up a possible sequel.

All in all I thought it was a very entertaining film. Lots of action, plenty of suspense, some surprises, and for once in a movie that was supposed to be of serious nature, it didn't throw in a random effort at comedy in case the seriousness wasn't working, just to keep viewers interested.

My only slight negativity of the movie, was the way Nick Moran seemed to enunciate every syllable. It was like he was talking the entire time to someone who didn't understand English, so he made sure he talked as slow and as clearly as he could. Other than that, I thought it was a well done movie.

It was nice to see Tara in a more serious role, although I would still like to see her have more of a "lead" role, or be the lead character in a film. It was easy to see that she was the most "experienced" of the actors in the film, and I think she's paid enough dues to garner the chance to be the Lead Character in a serious film.

Tara Reid was most experienced of the actors in the film? Really? I guess you should check Gregg Henry's imdb profile. Not to mention Robert Lyons because he only had a small part.
