a society full of hypocrisy

this 'sighe' thing is so disgusting and the fact that islamic law says a female child is a woman at 9yrs of age is also disgusting. i hate it when a religion epouses all these positive values but i see these women in the documentary and they look like they are living in hell and there is no way out and thats their fate, i just thank god that i dont live in such a closed minded society, where women are so mistreated and disrespected

This movie makes me think about how much Christian fundamentalism is gaining strength in America and how much it shares in common with Middle Eastern fundamentalism. American Christians are trying to force everyone to live by their values (gay marriage, abortion, public education, death decisions) even though there is supposed to be a separation of Church and State. I don't accept the legitimacy of their belief system and I resent them shoving their faith down my throat.

If politics continue the way they are in the US, this movie just may be the future.

The more I think about the sighe thing, the more I don't think it's the worst thing that could happen. True, it fundamentally oppresses women, both wives and sighes. But then again, men don't get off totally free. There is a formal system that forces men to acknowledge and financially support any children that come from a sighe relationship. I don't know if it's enforced, but it seems better than what we have in the US. If the man can run away fast enough and leave no trace, he can get out of any responsibility to support the life he helped bring into the world.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

Oh please! What are you going to do next for a conspiracy theory? Did you just take some KKK propaganda and do a find and replace on 'jew' with 'christian fundamentalist'?
