I don't know who writes these current films based on 70s TV shows but you really need to stop making them for younger audiences who weren't even alive to be fans of these shows in the first place. This is another piece of crap that never should have been greenlit. Congratulations to Will Ferrell as well for soiling not only"Bewitched" but this one too.

And then Hollywood turned it into a piece of crap comedy.
There is a great movie waiting to be made based on this property, but Hollywood is run by people too stupid to understand that. It would be part Jurassic Park, part high concept science fiction, and part Swiss Family Robinson. Take the source material seriously - a xenophobic race creates their own pocket universe to avoid contact with all other races, only to have a civil war among themselves that causes the technology creating their pocket universe to become slightly unstable and random openings to various point in Earth history open up allowing people (and animals/dinosaurs) in over thousands of years.
Into that world comes Rick Marshall, Forest Ranger, and his kids, Will and Holly. It is the story of their survival in a hostile world filled with dinosaurs, proto-humans, and the devolved decendants of the race that created the place.
It's a fantastic concept, and with the right script, director, and cast it could be a great movie.
But Hollywood didn't want that, they just looked at the original and saw primitive special effects (which still look pretty decent today, just nowhere near as good as modern CGI) and therefore something to make fun of.
I think the idea was to make fun of an old show that might be seen as corny by younger audiences who want and are used to sleeker production values.
It's not right, it's not fair, and I'm pretty sure the social psychologist who's part of the marketing team doesn't care, and will respond to you by saying "It makes people laugh, and they can feel better because they won't take the TV show so seriously."
But you know something, I didn't need a movie that had a lot of heavy moments, nor a lot of action, nor any other Hollywood clichés. I think people like me would have just preferred a movie that maybe updated the look but told a regular Land of the Lost story.
But, the jerks who made this crap decided otherwise.
It's bad enough that movies are stupid most of the time. But when they really go out of their way to make a pile of junk this thing, it's just salt in the wound.
You wonder how much more money they might have made had they just made a good update of the TV show.
It's like they don't care. Really. They don't care.

That's genuinely the entire reason remakes are made. To introduce to a new generation. If they were going to make it for the original fans... why the fuck would they even make it? Just rewatch the original lol
Also "Another classic TV show ruined" is a ridiculous thing to say. How did this ruin the tv show? The show is the same as it was before this movie came out.
the film makers should have taken the subject matter more seriously.
shareTrue, "Land of the Lost" deserved much better treatment instead of this shabby parody. The potential for a modern family classic is there.
