The Irish Chick Says Hello.

(Note: this is being posted from a friend of scarlett's IMDB account/user name)

My goodness. Lots of opinions out there. Whether you liked the film or not, thank you all for watching it and taking the time to respond. I always enjoy looking through the message boards of any film I've been a part of. To be honest, I have to laugh whenever I see my 'Irish' accent mentioned in these boards. A bit of history on how/why my character became Irish might be interesting. Or not... either way, here's the story:

While reading the script for Bloodlines/Striking Range I kept thinking that Mabe wasn't American. There was just something about her dialog that made me think she was European. When I was offered the role, Dan and I discussed this idea, he liked it and wanted to make her Irish. So with only a few days to learn an Irish accent before I started work, and with no dialog coach on set (on larger budget films there is ALWAYS a dialog coach to help the actors maintain a believable accent), we started filming. Throughout filming whenever I struggled with my accent I would just tell myself, "Mabe's been in the US for a long time...her accent would be a little muddled by now..."...and then promptly beat my head against the nearest wall for suggesting the accent idea to Dan...

Anyway, thanks to all of you for taking the time to read this.

Have an awesome 2008!
Scarlett McAlister
