Has anyone seen the film yet?

i think it is showing at Cannes and I was wondering if anyone has already seen the film.

reply

Yes, I saw it at BAFTA in London a few weeks ago.

It's not my type of film, but what it does, it does quite well. It's a London based rom-com romp - but not quite Four Weddings. Who knows, could be an unexpected hit. Depends on the marketing effort.

thanks!

For lpgm and anyone else:
Were there many people at the BAFTA Screening? Were you asked for Feedback?

Heard anything out of Cannes about this film?.

Thanks

I saw this film at Cannes. It's really good fun. Sure it's not like Four Weddings and a Funeral, but I am sure it was made for a fraction of the cost. I saw lots of low budget British films at Cannes and this was definitely one of the best. There were about fifty people in the audience and they were all laughing. I hope it gets released in the UK.

i hope so too.

Yes and it stinks! Straight to DVD without any doubt. The script is attrocious, editing is the jump-shot rubbish we are all tired of, the loud disco-beat music headache enducing, and two of the central performances, by Ed Byrnes and Lucy Punch, are embarrassingly bad.

Saw it - loved it. Lucy Punch is FANTASTIC!! She is both beautiful and quirky, empathetic and tragic. Best British comedy in ages - in fact it's so unlike a typical British comedy, it's fresh and poignant. Whether it ends up in the cinema or on DVD, it's a must see.

I didn't expect to like this film, but it really grew on me. It was a bit lightweight at the beginning, but once around the middle where things started to go wrong it was particularly entertaining. The film flew by really, I think it's aorund 90 minutes long, but I didn't find myself getting bored as there are enough variety of characters and situations and jokes to keep up the interest. I guess it's more of a chick flick really, but the comedian Ed Byrne is a lad who is struggling to understand women and dating and provided some bawdy laughs. I guess this film was something a bit different, but still pretty much mainstream and commercial, and yes I would recommend it to others - especially to watch with the girlfriend.

Sorry you didnt enjoy the music milliefan. I actually had a hand in doing vocals for a couple of the tracks. You may not like that sort of music, and each to their own, but I think you'll find it is rather in keeping with the whole upbeat feeling of the overall film. Better luck next time eh... :)

anybody know if this is getting a general release into the cinemas or will it go straight to dvd?

if so when?

reply

The sales agent is still negotiating for a UK cinema and dvd release in 2007, so we'll update when it's finalised. Meanwhile, the film's screening at various festivals internationally.
