"The Call Of Cthulhu" (2005) directed by Andrew Leman

"Primer" (2004) directed by Sean Carruth

"Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow" (2004) directed by Kerry Conran

"Bubba Ho-Tep" (2002) directed by Don Coscarelli

"Frailty" (2001) directed by Bill Paxton

"eXistenZ" (1999) directed by David Cronenberg

"Six-String Samurai" (1998) directed by Lance Mungia

"The Young Poisoner's Handbook" (1995) directed by Benjamin Ross

"Hardware" (1990) directed by Richard Stanley

"Tetsuo, The Iron Man" (1989) directed by Shinya Tsukamoto

"The Lair Of The White Worm" (1988) directed by Ken Russell

i hate imdb for this, i only recently joined, and so many decent films are panned, by people on here. this is a very good film, the holdback of the creature is freakishly good!

Night Feeders was a pretty good low budget horror involving four friends on a hunting trip who have to fight off aliens. It's lighter than Altered, but also more fun. I liked Altered, but it was so damn bleak.

reply

Yes a very underrated film. The tension of the out of control brother and the out of control alien. The twist of the sensible guy who is really plotting a act of revenge. The gore. The satisfaction of being vindicated after everyone talk the alien abduction story was crazy talk.

reply

Shameful is exactly the right word for the now 5.7. It's sad to see directors punished for doing something different, but then we're suffocated by whining about how nobody ever does anything different... Anyhow, check these waaay underrated titles out.

1. The Shrine
2. Dagon (2001)
3. _maybe_ Drag me to hell (iffy. Not even close to as good as the first two, but still a nice little diversion.)

reply

I think Desperation is pretty similar. Low-budget, small city, mystery, tension, group of people, etc.

Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)
