Here's how to bring the show back....

So, I'm thinking that what this show lacked, for the masses, was some star power. I didn't need it (in fact, I believe that the show was better without it!). However, if that were to get the numbers up, and the show back on the air, then I'd be all for it.

Sometimes, star power is not always the answer with T.V. or movies. James Gandolfini & Edie Falco were not famous before The Sopranos, and look what a classic that turned out to me. Cheers did not have any big names, either.

Plenty of shows "tank" regardless of the leading characters; you see shows on Network and cable channels being pulled after two or three episodes.

I wished this show had lasted at least two more seasons, but it wasn't meant to be.

The only way it'll ever come back is if Netflix picks it up as an original series. A lot has happened since 2008 as Jason Clarke and Kevin Chapman's careers have taken off (especially Clarke's). Assuming they can bring back everyone, my only concern would be continuing the show without Henry Bromell.

Perhaps the Whitey Bulger publicity will help bring this show back -- just last week a valuable witness was found dead with no signs of trauma, and he was suppose to give a BIG testimony that would put a large dent in Bulger's case. It seems that the Winter Hill gang isn't entirely dead, because who else who would want to help out a mobster who turned snitch for the FBI?

I read about that too. It's like something out of the movies, I can only wonder what will happen as the trial continues. I was only 4 when Bulger went on the run so I never knew what it was like when Bulger and the Winter Hill Gang ran Boston, but the trial has really caught my attention as I've lived in Mass my whole life.

Whitey's entire story is like something out of the movies. Ever since I first watched Brotherhood and learned that Michael and Tommy were really inspired by the Bulger brothers, I had this fixation of wanting to know everything about their unthinkable story. According to the books that I've read, Blake Masters and Henry Bromell did an amazing job of staying true to the characters, even though most of the story had been rearranged and made up for fictional purposes. Michael Caffee (Jason Isaacs) not only looked like Whitey, but he even portrayed the old-school Irish American gangster to perfection. And Tommy Caffee (Jason Clarke), although he didn't exactly look like Senator William Bulger, his mannerisms and attitude and wit were also flawlessly executed.

I think it's pretty cool that you're from Mass, by the way. And in case you weren't aware of it, Black Mass is a movie that will be released in 2014 -- the film is based on a book, which is based on the true story of Whitey and Bill Bulger. The producers got Johnny Depp to play the infamous gangster, but I highly doubt that anyone will be able to top Jason Isaac's portrayal of Whitey.

That being said...Brotherhood is, and always will be, my all-time favorite series. The Sopranos and The Wire ain't got nothing on the legendary Caffee brothers.

I heard that Depp dropped out. I'm kinda glad to be honest. Depp is a great actor, but I don't think that he could pull of Bulger. Depp already played an infamous gangster in Public Enemies (which co-starred Jason Clarke coincidentally). Then again, maybe he can pull it off. He was great in Donnie Brasco, but seeing him star in bomb after bomb makes him lose credibility in my opinion.

I know that Ben Affleck is also supposed to be doing a biopic on Bulger with Matt Damon starring as Bulger. I think Damon is a better choice, but I think there is someone out there who is better suited. Plus now with Bulger's trial, I wonder how that will affect the ending of the movie. According to an article, there is a script by Terence Winter (from Boardwalk Empire and Sopranos fame) that Affleck and Damon will be using. That gets me very excited as well as having Affleck direct.

Assuming the script spans from his early life to present day, what do you think Levinson and Affleck should do regarding Bulger in his older days/trial? Make-up or actually getting another actor?

I just hope that both movies get the tone right and are actually dark and ugly like the criminal world is. Very few movies/TV shows have been able to capture that tone and feeling.

Lastly, Tony V (Ralph) would be a perfect choice for Kevin Weeks. Make it happen Affleck.

Good. Nothing against Depp, but that guy seems like he's content with the wacky roles he's been getting lately. In my opinion, the producers should cast someone who's not already a huge celebrity. On top of it being less costly, it'd be easier to associate the actor with Whitey.

Make-up. I think the viewer would want to vaguely see that it's the same guy from the start of the film who's being prosecuted for his crimes -- only to preserve the connection between the audience and the character.

The Bulger/Matt Damon project sounds interesting -- I'll have to look that up.

That's why I lean towards make-up, but I just hope that they use it well. No CGI, please. For Bulger, I remember seeing someone (might have been on the Black Mass board) that Ed Harris would be a good choice for Bulger. I could see him as an older Bulger maybe, but not a younger one. Unless they want to go down the GoodFellas route and have an older actor play a much younger character.
