I was looking for a new series to get into and I was thinking about giving Brotherhood a chance. I know it was cancelled after 3 seasons and I was wondering whether it ended in a cliffhanger or if the series was wrapped up. Also if it did end in a cliffhanger, was the cliffhanger at least satisfying as a series finale?
shareThe ending is more of a conclusion than a cliffhanger, but the finale could serve as both. Luckily Blake Masters knew that the show wasn't going to see a fourth season, so he had enough time to develop a solid end to the Caffee brothers' story. Make no mistake about it: Brotherhood is the most realistically portrayed mobster series you're going to find. Period.
This show is my absolute favorite, so of course I would urge you to watch it.

Thanks for the reply. Unlike most people I wasn't a fan of the Sopranos and I was wondering if you'd seen that show and how you would compare Brotherhood to the Sopranos. My wife and I enjoyed the film State of Grace a lot and we were hoping that this film was something similar or even better. Also, this is the only question I will ask about the plot so please don't spoil anything but is there any IRA involvement in the storyline?
shareNo, there's no IRA. The series is heavily concentrated on the two crooked brothers and their small, lower-end neighborhood that they live in. But don't worry, the show remains interesting and unpredictable all the way through. As for comparing The Sopranos to Brotherhood...the Italian mafia in this show seems more intimidating...other than that there's really no comparison. Brotherhood is more original, more intelligent, and more realistic.
