Good but... pretty much of a Before Sunrise rip off

This is a very good movie, and I truly mean it. It's that kind of movie that makes you think right after... and maybe remember, or hope things... And that can't be bad.

But... from another point of view... I felt like this movie was just a "Before Sunrise" and "Before Sunset" rip off.

If you have never seen those movies, maybe you should consider looking at their entries on the IMDB.

It's the story of 2 persons, meeting up by chance in a city that isnt their home town, and that just pass the day together, talking, walking, and visiting some places specific to the cities they were in. Both cities are in Europe, and it's an American (Ethan hawke), meeting a french woman (Julie Delpy).

At the end of the movie, you always see the places they visited during the movie, but without them.

Honestly, I really hate to attack the work of someone, but I really find that this movie was a complete rip off, and that it wasnt done properly... the chemistry isn't there between both characters, and the picture isn't quite as well shot, for, I guess, around the same, or a bigger budget.

Anyways, it's still a very good movie that I really enjoyed, I just thought I would share my thoughts on this movie with you guys.

If you enjoyed that movie, you will definitely enjoy both "Before" movies a lot... and I really mean a lot.

Otherwise, have a good day.

I think it partly was a tribute to Before sunset, but only one small part,
the discussion in central park, apart from this I almost think it
was better than Before sunset. The story was diffrent.

Btw, a collaborator on Before sunset also collaborated on this project.

Yes, see them in order, i.e, first Before sunrise and then Before sunset.

Nobody can deny the movies resemblance with "Before Sunrise", but I do not think of that as such a negative thing. Is it not allowed to do movies in the same tone as a movie already made? "New York Waiting" and "Before Sunrise" go in the same theme or tone or whatever it is called, but the plots are not that much copies of eachother, are they? In my belief, what lowers this movie on the scale is that the script was not the best, and that neither of the lead roles were done especially well. Maybe had something to do with the budget of the production, I do not know..

And by the way, I strongly recomend the person in the thread that had not seen "Before Sunrise" to see it as soon as possible, it is one of a few 'spot on' productions ever made if you ask me. Linklater is a genious of his own kind.
