Was it ever explained why he was replaced in the role of Sheriff?

It was probably because he died. As per the RIP in the message. Just realized you posted this last year, so maybe you know that now.

He was replaced as the sheriff well before his death. He was replaced in 06 I believe, 5 years before he died. I've wondered the same thing about him being replaced. It may have been other work wouldn't allow him to do the voice over work for Squidbillies.
