Forget Rocky

Just watched it this evening and it is the best boxing film i have ever seen.
Anyone else care to share an opinion?

reply

Is it better then Raging Bull?

That’s rhetorical... {RB is the best sports film/Film of the 80's}.....
I'll probably order it soon {CRYING FIST}; it will be a minute though.

If you haven’t seen Raging Bull you should go to your local Library and check it out {its free, the Library is nice}

I guess the real question is.....Is it better then 'Rocky V'.

reply

Of course i have seen Raging Bull. It's the one about Rodeo riders right? . . . . yes that was a joke.
What's this trying to plug the local library too . . . . u must work for em and are trying to get people to go there as no one does anymore.

anyhoo, i hope u enjoy Crying Fist as much as i did.

oh and to answer your question, is anything as good as Rocky V, except maybe Rocky VI?

reply

Its more emotional than the original Rocky, and it is on another level compared with the Rocky sequels. IMO I liked it better than Raging Bull. Maybe Sly should have learnt from this movie...

Its a different type of boxing movie to me, because it wasn't about the BIG FIGHT it was just about two people trying to find themselves again.

I loved Crying Fist because until the very end. I had no clue on who was going to win.

reply

It took me long enough.....but I just got the film in the mail today so I'll get back in a couple of days with my opinion {which means nothing}, I'm sure it will be great.

And since you watch import films its foolish of me to think you havin't seen Raging Bull.
And the Library is a place fit for kings {and people looking for free DVD's}.

reply

First off, it’s not 'Raging Bull'.
I'll give you the Rocky movies, I enjoyed it, I don't want to throw out spoilers but I really liked the structure of the movie, of the two paths coming together, and that its a boxing movie that’s not about two rivals hating each other to the final fight.
Its more of a two story film about overcoming life's pressures and reaching a dream, with no good guy or bad guy just two guys that intersect at the end of the film on the way to fulfill there dreams.

Its Very unique in that since, good movie.
I also liked the look of the movie with the lighting and hand camera {which almost distracts from every movie I see it in; even though I like it, ever since 'Private Ryan' I take notice to it and think hand camera.... nice} panning around. Also the one fight that was one continues take, I appreciate long takes.

Also I'm sure you've seen it but 'Million Dollar Baby' is another great boxing movie {Its the feel good movie of 2004} defiantly worth checking out, it never gets mentioned with great sports movies so I thought I'd plug it in there.

If you liked this movie you should definitely Check out Champion.

I really love it too. (just watched it yesterday), but I wouldnt compare it to ROCKY, because ROCKY is different kind of movie - both have boxing in it, but still they are different kind of movies.

For me ROCKY is still the best movie if it comes to motivating people to make the best out of their lives .. CRYING FIST is an awesome drama about life itself .. I love both movies, but I would never every say R is better than CF or CF is better than R .. people should watch both movies :).

I liked it more than Raging Bull and Rocky.

Lol, you just can't say that Raging Bull is better than Crying Fist because RB was made in Hollywood and has a different league !
