The ending. *spoilers*

I didn't expect the movie to end when/where it did. It seemed to leave some things open.

Are we to assume she went North after all?

Did she take the pills (mentioned earlier) to abort the baby?

Did the guys remain partners, or was their relationship irreversably (sp) destroyed?

At first I thought the last scene was showing that they reconciled, but their expressions seemed hurt/angry.

Your thoughts?

Are you going to pull those pistols or whistle "Dixie"?

reply

Well, I think the friendship is meant to last. In the end we see that bowl of blood in close-up. The blood of both friends is mixed up. In my opinion it means that they belong together. Though... I might be wrong. What do you think?

reply

Arg! I don't know!

The way she breaks up right then, I thought it could also be symbolizing her recognizing the pain she caused by coming between the two.

I can see both. That's life, huh?

reply

Perhaps (the bowl of blood stuff) but she's also looking at the blood and thinking of the abortion. Whether she decides to go through with it I don't know, but the thought causes her anguish. The bond between the men is strong and will always return, even if they separate for a while.

reply

That's a good opinion.I also like to believe that they all worked it out and are all chillin' together in Bahia with a beautiful little baby---I like happy endings, sue me. (jk!)

reply

Jeez, I had a totally different take on it. The cry at the end was supposed to indicate the hopelessness and futility of their situation and the fact that no matter how much she loved them or what she did, she was going to be the death of at least one of them.
