did dani have a gay fling?

I watched this movie on cable TV yesterday and I know sometimes stuff gets censored there. So here's my question: did the guy with an artificial leg (Dani?) kiss the stutter-guy on the beach? Or was that meant to be just a friendship and no more? On the beach, after getting out of the water, they seemed to be about-to-kiss, but on my TV screen, the scene ends rather abruptly. The other two disabled characters have romantic relationships developing that night, so I'm tempted to presume this one was romantic too. But then again, there was nothing very gay about either of the two characters (in fact, they came across VERY straight) so I'm not sure. SOMEONE PLEASE CLEAR MY CONFUSION !! I CAN'T SLEEP AT NIGHTS !!
