Wow, revelation about Alex becoming a tester

Listning to the movie for the umpteenth time and I just noticed something for the first time, Alex said he's been a tester for 10 years, and Grandma says' it's been 10 years since her husband died.

So Alex, who had a huge relationship with not only Grandma put Grandpa, maybe had been affected by his Grandpa's death in a way that made him think 'life's too short, I should do what I want to do' , and quit his accounting job.
