I'll recount the different places where Salaam Namaste has copied F.R.I.E.N.D.S. scenes... 1> Joey and Chandler reclining their LazyBoys and going "aaaahhhhhh"... Saif and Arshad do the same.
2> Monica is a cook and is obsessed with cleanliness... Saif's character, yup, you got it.
3> The "you-two-are-perfect-for-each-other" speech perfectly translated into Hindi.
4> Ross with legs spread wide up on those things in the pergnancy room... Saif does a total copy.
5> Ross getting bumped on the head while Rachel is in labour, saying, "ouch, you have no idea how much that hurt" and getting an "I-can-eat-you-with-my-eyes" stare from Rachel... Preity and Saif reproduce it.
Many Hollywood films are also american versions of foreign films, and also many more are just re-makes of old movies. So, NO MOVIE industry is really very original.
I'm european and I know that half the american movies are COPIES & REMAKES of movies from europe & Asia. Who could ever know than The Truman Show is copied from an spanich movie called El Anonimo? And the hundreds and hundreds of films from france, germany, holland, denmark and so, COPIED by America and nobody, NEVER, will know these films are copies....
And how to know they remake 100's of korean & japanese films....like the coming soon Old Boy, Il Mare, My wife is a Gangster, My sassy girl....
And the rest are remakes of old movies & TV series....
How sad. How easy to hate your country movies. Everybody does that.
Let's face it people...nothin's really "original"...SOMETHING must've influenced the director to make this kind of movie...so for all those complaining bout the copying look at it as a COMPLIMENT to the people who've been copied...it shows how much people appreciate their work...so much so they want the same elements in their own movies...SUCK IT UP AND ENJOY THE DAM MOVIE...its not supposed to be analyzed...its a COMEDY...so laugh it up u dont hafta feel GUILTY...just because u kno it was copied doesnt mean it was SO HORRIBLE u cant stand to enjoy it anymore...the actors are different and so is the setting and they bring they're own flavor into it...its just like eating noodles and pasta...basically the same thing just from a differrent culture...PS PREITY AND SAIF ARENT WEARIN MUCH THROUGHOUT THE MOVIE FOR A REASON...GIVE IN TO THE BOLLYWOOD CHARM!!!
fyi divyamistry it is not BS because for example when you write an essay you need to cite your references the sections you take out of a book for your essay is cited and awknowledged. however when you copy a section out of a book and dont credit the book, then that is considered plaguarism. same here. if you copy some movie line by line and fail to awknowledge it thats when its wrong.

Well all the good news then.... i love seeing 'Friends'.... n i hope i shall love seeing this movie too...a pity though that i havent yet seen it.... in fact i was advised not to see this movie when i asked my sister for an opinion, maybe that was a bad decision.... cheers mate for ur message... it has made me want to see the movie even more....!!
I completely agree with the fact that the movie salaam namaste has been totally based on the friends sequence. There were many more instances from those mentioned, like when aif repeatedly says Oh! Crap (monica?) Anyway, its the stuff like this which make me not to see the hindi movies other than man dancing on women's songs. It often happens in Bollywood that when the director runs out of Ideas, he tends to copy stuff from hollywood and translate into hindi and make the profit.
I am a huge fan of Saif Ali Khan. The new modified version of Saif that is. There was a time when I never even considered Saif an actor but my perception changed after seeing the movie 'Dil chahta hai'. That movie made me realise how talented an actor he is. He is good at playing the roles he played in movies like DCH, Kal Ho Na Ho and in this movie.
Any how, I enjoyed this movie alot and even gave it a rating of 10 out of 10. I felt both SAK and Preity Zinta achieved perfection in their roles and Javed Jaffri was just too hilarious. While I was watching the movie, I had a feeling it kind of resembled Kya Kehna but I knew in the end there would be a twist. I agree the plot of the movie was copied from the movie 'Nine months' but I think it had a touch of bollywood in it.
PS: One joke. You'll enjoy it if you have seen this movie
Javed Jaffery's proposal to a girl. "Here is mys parpooz, with this the reds rose. Please don't u the rejects my parpooz becoz i don't the parpooz the ROZ ROZ
