I agree, personally I think sholay is overrated (no offense to the fans of this movie).
But it seems that everyone is either expected to love the movie, or is a total nutcase. There seems to be no room for people who dislike the movie, because every praises it so highly.
I enjoyed sholay, I've seen it quite a few times, but it never really struck me as strongly as it did some other films. Of course, you could call it the best film of its time, but isn't it time we get over it and move on to bigger and better things.
That being said, Lage Raho Munna Bhai had a much more powerful message than sholay. Both were entertaining films in their own right, (Sholay had situational comedy, while Lage Raho Munna Bhai tried to mix both one-liners with situational comedy as well), but the message portrayed through lage raho was much more uniquely portrayed and different than the same-old friendship/heroism shown in sholay.
Still, though, sholay should be much higher than a 6.9
