WORST MOVIE EVER

I wish I could give this movie a negative rating because it was that
bad. It is so bad this movie will not even garner "cult" status. I am
embarrassed to say that I live in the same state as the producers of
this movie. I only wanted to watch one scene (hot dog), yea you know
what I'm talking about, then I was done.

What? Worst movie ever? Sheesh, ever see 'Plan 9 From Outer Space'? I like 'Dead Life' a lot! It's refreshing to see a film made with passion and hard work rather than huge production budgets. You guys say it looks amateurish; it's meant to be that way. It's not meant to be some glamour vehicle/ego trip for some huge Hollywood star who makes 5 million per film to pose/ham it up for the camera. It captures normal people acting normal under nigthmarish circumstances -- zombies overrunning the Earth. It's a movie about a group of smalltown friends hanging out in some boring little town in Ohio where the only thing to do is hang out with your buddies and drink beer. I love the lead male. He's charismatic and cool. Also, the guy who does the karate is pretty cool. Every small town has some dude who's spent 5 years in a 'Tae Kwon Do' dojo and could kick the cigarette out of your mouth without touching your lips. 'Dead Life' is made for true horror fans, esp. zombie movie fans. Sounds like all the bashers don't like horror flicks. Stick to your George Clooney boring flicks that make up for their boring scripts by throwing in 30 explosions.

Meant to be amateurish? What the hell does that mean? The argument that because a movie has little to no budget means it can be badly done doesn't work. Have you ever seen Night of the Living Dead, or Evil Dead. Both were low budget but are classic horror films. It seems to me that as long as you make a horror movie some people will defend it no matter how bad it is. It wasn't scary, it wasn't horrific, if anything it was funny (but not in a good way). On the plus side the ending was great. Too bad the whole movie wasn't of the same quality. And by quality I mean acting, editing, camera work, not budget. I can see what they were going for but no. And this isn't the worst movie I have seen. That would be Midnight Skater. Also horror, but really, really bad.

if you think midnight skater is bad, you should check out demon summer. i wish i had those 90 minutes back... o wait... i mean 6 months.

oops... my bad.

Plan 9 From Outer Space is better directed, better edited, better filmed, and better acted than Dead Life.

I might be willing to call it even or with Dead Life ahead a bit in writing though.

reply

I would rather slit my wrists than see this again. I second the WORST MOVIE EVER title.

reply

I agree with lartrack - 'Plan 9 From Outer Space' isn't actually the worst movie ever, it's just become famous through those 3 words being constantly applied to it.

I keel you! Greet my donkey!

'hanging out in some boring little town in Ohio where the only thing to do is hang out with your buddies and drink beer'...add 'and make really bad movies' and it sounds like a description of the filmmakers.

I'm sorry but not having a budget doesn't excuse extreme awfulness. DL is more about not having any creativity. It's like they've never even seen a movie and have no idea what the minimum requirements are to make it worthwhile for someone to sit through a movie. I'm equally against much of the big budget Hollywood crap where CG effects and other flashiness are used to spackle over poorly written scripts. I think even Uwe Boll has a better idea how to make a movie than these guys. While House otD is a terrible movie and I want to ask the writer (of Free Enterprise fame) what he was thinking, it's still more entertaining than Dead Life.

Plan 9 and Ed Wood movies define the concept of being passionate about filmmaking and still having no clue how to make a good movie. It's hard to imagine these people being passionate about making this dreck. It doesn't seem like much effort could've been put into it, especially in the script stage. It feels like someone was drunk and bored one night and came up with the zombie girl rape/revenge scene and decided to make a whole crappy movie as a wrap-around to try to make an excuse for filming that scene. I'm guessing even Uwe Boll's early work is more watchable.

I love horror movies, when they aren't made terribly. Unfortunately, there's a lot of mediocrity in the genre for past 5-10 years.

Other truly awful 'worst' movies:

Day of the Dead 2: Contagium (sequel in name only, duh)
Date Movie (truly painfully unfunny)
Naked Space (another awful parody aka The Creature Wasn't Nice)
Heroes Stand Alone (boring Roger Corman produced pic circa 89-90)
RotLD 4: Necropolis (heard RotLD5:RftG is equally awful)
Death Row (aka Haunted Prison; 2006 SciFi Ch)
The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle (2000)
Pulse (2006, I've seen few remakes so far off the mark as that)

Since you're throwing in bad films, here's some:

Night of Horror(The makers even tried to remake their own film- The Curse of the Screaming Dead)
The Brainsucker(A few times you can actually hear the director's voice)
Nail Gun Massacre(One scene you can actually see someone reading from the script)
Back Woods
The Freeway Maniac

reply

Oh my gosh, I second that emotion: WORST MOVIE EVER! But why, oh why, isn't this steaming pile of crap on imdb's Bottom 100?

reply

"What? Worst movie ever? Sheesh, ever see 'Plan 9 From Outer Space'? I like 'Dead Life'"

People who call Plan 9 the worst movie ever made are people who don't actually watch bad movies.

I collect dead pigeons then I press them between the pages of a book.
