They say 'Maths.'

How come instead of calling math, math, the people on Blue Water High(as well as H2O, Just add water) call it "maths?"

I thought it was just my dad who called it maths. My dad learned English at school in China, and I think he said his teacher was English. So is calling Math, Maths purely an English thing?

Hmmm, although BWH isn't an English show but an Australian show, I may be making people a little confused. Sorry. :)

Most schools and students in Australia abbreviate Mathematics to Maths.

Im an Aussie and at school we have always said Maths. Math is an American thing I think. There are a lot of things said in American TV shows and movies that are different from the term used in Aus.

I live in the US and i've never heard someone say 'maths' until i watched this show. I kinda think it makes more sense, since math(s) consists of several kinds of math, so it should be plural. but then again math is math, so it could just be singular. anyways...

it sounds weird to say 'maths' though... but probably only since i learned it different.

why is the U.S so weird? we use different measurements than the rest of the world for no reason. it sucks when i travel.

Maths is an abbreviation of Mathematics, so unless in the US people study mathematic (possible, I suppose!) surely it's correct that it's shortened to Maths.....
