Hi I hear that Regent is releasing it globally. I would be willing to bet the Australia is on the list. I saw it in New York last week. It was fantastic. If you love theater you will love this film. It is great!!!!!!!!!!!

I just checked on amazon and the DVD is still not available. Is it even going to be released? I would pay very large amounts of money to have a copy of this film.

If anyone knows where it's available, please let me (and all of us) know.

dori bernstein was at the screening i attended last saturday. she said it will be out on DVD before the end of 200 -- with lots of footage that did not make the final cut.

I saw this terrifically entertaining and informative documentary last evening at the Kendall cinema in Cambridge, MA--and, just as the credits began to roll, in walked producer/director Dori Berinstein and co-producer Wendy Riseborough to conduct a talk-back session with the surprised and enthusiastic audience. What an unexpected treat it was--and we all could have talked for hours about the film and the season it depicted. Dori was very accessible and, had she not been required to drive back to New York late last night in order to be in town for a casting session this morning, I think she would have accepted our invitation to take her to dinner and talk, talk, talk about the subject.

This one needs to be seen widely--if you love musicals or just appreciate a glimpse into the monumental behind-the-scenes efforts that go into producing any play, then appeal to your local art-house or specialty screening venue to bring in this film. If you don't have one of those cinemas nearby, ask at one of the local megaplexes! If you happen to live in or near a college town, then it should be easy enough to arrange a screening. Spread the word and get this one out there! Dori promised that the dvd release (date still not specifically determined) will have lots and lots of extras that didn't make it into the final cut--and who can wait?

Let's get some love on the boards for this one, folks. Dori is also the producer of LEGALLY BLONDE: THE MUSICAL, from which a fun excerpt was introduced by Matt Lauer on television this morning--so, get out and support that one as well!

Saw this film last night in LA -- there was a Q & A afterwards with Jeff Marx (lyricist/composer of Avenue Q). He and the moderator said that the DVD will be out in the fall, with about another 90 minutes of footage.

Apparently the director shot footage of all of the shows that season since she didn't know which ones would be the hits.

They also said that the movie would be playing in major cities throughout the summer, so look for it. Really enjoyable .

Please tell your friends to get out and support this one! Nice to hear that Jeff Marx is actively supporting it--he sure got lots of nice footage in it, so it's nice that he is offering a little "in kind" backing. The only show that the production team did not have access to that entire season was THE BOY FROM OZ. All other shows were covered, including straight plays and revivals. That dvd will be priceless!

Best,

M
