New Yearly Holliday!!

Ive added the release of Swat 4 as a new day off every year, *beep* ive waited for almost, whats it been like almost 5 years? now I dont even think about the game when I get emailed the releas date, I just think cool deal, I have a date to look forward to, I really couldnt care less about the game anymore, and the fact that it's all just a big practical joke and there really is no Swat 4 that ive prepaid for, and subscribed to. So that's it! play Swat 3, if you like it, and you can find no other outlet, youve got to have more, jump on the sucker wagon with the rest of us, it's fun to imagine what a Swat 4 would be like!!!

What? What? When I typed that, Swat 4 was supposed to be out years before, they kept shelfing it, now it's out, Finally! so I guess it's old news.

I think you're talking about the SWAT Urban Justice fiasco, where they kept delaying the game until it simply fell into cancellation. SWAT 4 was meant to be entirely seperate from SWAT Urban Justice.

Maybe that's what it was, it was so long ago, I had to get on with life, ive never even been refunded for whichever one it was, I just left it alone in hopes that it would suddenly suprise me, so Swat 4 wasnt just a rehashed version of Urban Justice? that's what ive heard, perhaps you could shed a little light on the whole ordeal for me.

SWAT 4 was an entirely seperate game from Urban Justice. Urban Justice was meant to be a quasi-sequal of sorts to SWAT 3, set in 2006 LA where the fictitious "LA SWAT Team" (Sierra dropped the LAPD license to implement features such as ballistic shields and the ability to smack someone with the butt of a gun) must quell gang violence during the city's 225th anniversary celebration. From the start, Sierra wanted the game to be more fast-paced and action-oriented to attract a larger audience. The SWAT fanbase disapproved of this approach, and problems arose within Sierra itself (Rod Fung, the producer of UJ who had been working with Sierra since the 1980's I believe, left the company entirely). From there, the game was in developmental purgatory for a few years (it was made public in February 2002 with a proposed release date of fall 2002, but was delayed to 2003 and then continously delayed throughout the year) until it was finally cancelled in 2004. Shortly after, SWAT 4 was announced and slated for an '05 release.
