Controversy over copyright

The film is based on the play by a prominent Russian playwright, Aleksandr Vampilov. His widow told the Russian media that the rights were bought from her supposedly by a film student for a student project for just $3000. When she found out about the scheme, she insisted that the name of her late husband does not appear in the credits. What a shame. Compare Russian film based on the same play: Starshii syn (1975).
