As far as abilities, having Dawn Star on Support mode has saved my life more then once.
As far as sheer entertainment, Black Whirlwind and Hou are up there. Sky can be amusing in the Imperial City.

Probably Wild Flower. She is so freaking cute, and I love the idea of a little girl who transforms into a huge beast. Black Whirlwind is probably my second choice because of how powerful and funny he is. Hou is my least favorite..
sharemy favorite by far is Sky! his character can range from really serious to seriously hysterical and my second favorite is The Black Wirlwind. he's always good for a laugh. in my opinion the most annoying character in the game is Silk Fox/Princess Sun Lian! she is the biggest bitch in the game!

About the question marks at the bottom of the followers screen, JaquonSkywalker, you can get followers to fill those spaces. They're "secret" type characters but they're really not worth it. The characters are Ya Zhen (the evil demon in Wild Flower - Chai Ka's counterpoint) and Death's Hand (you choose to bind him). Death's Hand is a good fighter, but it seriously upsets some of your other followers (e.g. don't do it unless you're following the Closed Fist philosophy). Ya Zhen is just like Chai Ka except he's a big green toad demon instead of a... um... whatever Chai Ka is... and you have to "kill" Wild Flower to get him. Basically they're only accessible if you follow the Closed Fist.

I've been wondering if there were any penalties to using the Other... I find he's more potent against the ghosts in the Capital's graveyard than the good demon that possesses her (and I've been following the Open Palm, still able to use him)... does prolonged use of him prove detrimental to the game in the long run?

My favorite has to be Kang. I laugh everytime I talk to him. Also his attutide is great. Plus who doesn't love a good explosion.

I would say Dawn Star and Sagacious Zu. Dawn's Chi replenish power and Zu's weapon attack enhancer is great and very useful. I used them the most often throughout the game. I also like Wild Flower and Sky. I agree with you nikolas164. She is so cute! Hou is my least favorite character. He is really useless, and I didn't use him once.
