Until I watch the original I cannot say anything about it. I did enjoy watching the remake though and that is going to have to go into my Netflix list of films that I would like to watch is the original The Hitcher film so, I can make my comments about the original and compare notes about the original to the remake. From what I understand is that the girlfriend is the one who is killed in the original and the boyfriend lives. Where as in the remake they switched it all around a causing the girlfriend to get killed and the boyfriend remains alive.
Now I will make this comment about The Hitcher II. though. When I watched that the other night I was thinking that the girlfriend was going to be the victim reliving what she had gone through watching her boyfriend get killed by a homicidal maniac when instead I see the original actor C. Thomas Howell return to face his demons of a stranger killing his girlfriend. Now I did like the sequel for him getting revenge even though in the end it is his new girlfriend who gets the revenge on this stranger.
