I love Ed Burns but ...

...this movie wasn't anywhere near as enjoyable IMO as "She's the One" or "The Brothers McMullen."

This one blew. Agreed.

Would've been better had Mike McGlone had been cast. The dynamic b/w him and Jay Mohr would've been something to see.

I really like Burns early movies, but this movie was about a 5, not terrible, but not funny, not dramatic, just put out there. Burns seemed 'burned out' during the whole movie. What ever happen to the witty, charming smart-ass (I guess he has wore that routine out).
It don't help when the characters are not even remotely believable -

Jay Mohrs character really had a serious relationship with that woman? Please - And now won't leave her alone? (the punch in the stomach sene by Top Cat was brutal).

Matthew Lillard is the perfect family man who works/runs a bar every night? OK?

John Leguizamo disappears for 8 year b/c he's gay, but nobody cares about that anyway. Just boring...

Burns reminds me of a great 70s rock band first couple albums that are great, then a few mediocre albums after out of material.

Now this is a good post lizardkxng, rather than these people who come on and say it sucked or all Ed Burn's films are awful you give some insight.

I just watched "The Brother's McMullen" a few days ago, and now "The Groomsmen" is on again.

This film is almost "cartoonish", a parody of the other films.

The language, the over the top behavior in the bar scenes, it's all a bit much.

It's too bad he doesn't do a sequel to "Brothers", the characters in this film aren't very likeable.
