Eating pork.

Jews don't eat Pork do they? So how would eating Pork indicate secretly practicing the Jewish faith?

reply

I didn't think she ate it, she said she didn't like the taste.

reply

Right. She denied eating it because she didn't like the taste. But they accused her of lying, suggesting she did eat it, supposedly proving she was secretly practicing Judaism, which doesn't make sense.

Oh, hang on. Or . . . were they suggesting the reason she refused it was because she was secretly practicing Judaism? That makes sense, although that wasn't how it seemed.

She hadn't eaten the pork which to the inquisitors was proof that she was a jew. They didn't accuse her of lying about having eaten the pork but of lying about the reason why she hadn't eaten the pork.

reply

Gotcha.

reply

I honestly thought when he said could you prove it that they were going to make her eat some pork... I didn't think they'd torture her?!

I am sure that many people who were tortured during this time never saw it coming. The lack of warning from Milos showed the harshness and lack of any empathy towards people of those times. It wasn't dumb at all, just craftmanship from a terrific director.

reply

I think you got it wrong. They accused her of NOT eating pork

reply

It was her turning her nose up at the pork that gave them an excuse.

reply

she should have ordered the Plate o' Shrimp
