Are you aware this is adapted from a TV series?

Antoine Fuqua is a big fan of south korean movies so is Nicolas Winding Refn. Pretty much all the hollywood writers, directors watch east asian cinema. You can see it in their work. (I am Selling nootropics to boost iq)

I saw the man from nowhere and apart from that movie having a girl protaginist who makes friends with an ex spec ops operator whose wife has died there are no other similarities.

There are numerous ex (insert blank) takes on criminals movies. And they themselves are derived from one man against many stories.

Very loosely based on the TV series.

Kevin Costner in Open Range is another similarly themed movie. Mellow guy with a bad axx past wakes up and starts killing people without breaking a sweat.

This one borrowed from quite a few.
