'City of Quartz', by Mike Davis

Anyone ever read it? It's the book that prompts Bone to visit it's author, Mike Davis, to get his take on the history of gangs.

I'm reading it right now. A lot of it's really boring, if you're comparing to Bastards of the Party, at least, as most of it is about real estate and development, but the parts that get into the LAPD, and not to mention the private security companies hired by the rich, who, historically, are just as racist, is riveting to say the least. Some of it lacks citation, but there is more than enough cited material to demonstrate beyond any sane person's doubt that the city and the LAPD played a significant role in what gangs have become. No wonder most of us never heard of this book until watching this film.
