Plot Holes and Bad Acting

If most people were babysitting new kids they had never met .... They would want to meet them and check on them periodically.

The main character (don't know her name) is a pretty bad actor to say the least.

I caught this wonderful film late one night when I couldn't sleep.

Well, I'll never get that hour of my life back ....

I think that you'll find Jill Johnson is a better character than any character played by any other actress. And Camilla Belle is a great actress. Better than that nasty Jennifer Aniston.

How many times? The children had the flu. Or cold. They weren't to be disturbed. When Jill accidentally played the music v. loud that didn't wake them up. Not to mention the frequent phone calls that didn't wake up the children.

The film is more than one hour long.

reply

I only watched it for an hour. If a movies bad I don't torture myself and watch the whole film.

reply

An hour! But the was 86 minutes long you only had 26 minutes to go!

reply

I think Camilla Belle did a fine job

reply

I never got the criticisms with Camilla Belle's acting. I thought she was pretty terrific.

reply

You're kidding, right?

Her acting and line delivery felt very high school drama play!

Completely static, bored, and monotone

examples:

"This house is Ammaaaziing!" she says with very little excitement in her voice.

"Stop calling me, you sick **" she says with so much boredom and lack of feeling.

"I'm Jill, the babysitter" she says calmly as if there wasn't a psychopathic killer in the house.

Really, if you think THAT is terrific acting, I'd hate to know what you consider bad acting! ;)

reply

The way she delivers "Stop calling me, you sick..." was excellent. Even people who say her performance was bad admit she delivered that line very well. And correct me if I'm wrong, but when she said "I'm Jill, the babysitter", wasn't she unaware there was a psycho in the house?
"I'd hate to know what you consider bad acting"? Excuse me? Are you trying to insult me? I do know what "bad acting" is. You're talking to someone who's seen TV shows such as Austin & Ally and movies such as The Last Airbender.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but not everyone is going to share your opinion, nor is everyone going to find Camilla Belle a "terrible" actress. Think twice before accusing others of not being as "intelligent" or "thoughtful" just because they have a different opinion than you.
Also, the fact that you included ";)" at the end of your "argument" shows how mature you really are. Grow up.

I honestly think that Camilla Belle did an excellent job of acting in this, which was probably about 60 to 70% of a non-verbal performance. She convincingly played a character that was in fear of her life. Her reactions to all the shock, fright moments were spot on and the way I'd expect a person to react.

reply

Let's be real, her reaction when she finds her friends body is terrible lol. For the most part she carried the film well enough but, not having seen any film of hers since this one, I do hope she got a coach to help her expand her range a little bit.
