why such low ratings?

Overall I thought that this was a good movie, nice script, great music score, and fine actors for the most part. I don't see why there is so much criticism!

Ditto! I liked it too. Jeez, what do people expect? C'mon! Look at the cover! Did they bother to read the cover text? And when older actors are given work like that, it is a tribute to their craft.

BTW, have you seen Lee Majors in the music video by "Bowling for Soup"? Brings tears to the youngsters of today!

Oh brother, go away, you clearly are biased to Holly and have no understanding of what makes a great film or even a decent one for that matter, this was so bad I'm sure all the actors with any reputation at all are hoping none of their friends or family will ever see it as it is a total embarrassment.

No, this was a wonderful movie!

I just finished watching the horror movie "Frozen" which received 7,8 stars in the imdb (???). I gave it 6 stars. Find the extremely high rating unjustified.

Now I'm watching this wonderful little gem and thought it should have at least 7.5 stars and cannot believe my eyes when I checked the imdb and it was rated 4 stars only. Why???
I gave it 8 stars.
Wish there would be more movies like this.

No, I don't understand the criticism either.
But recently the same happened after I had watched "The Book Thief", a lovely WW II movie about a Jewish girl. I was shocked how controversial it was and gave it of course a high rating.
For me it was even better than "Schindler's List", for others obviously not.
Vive la différence :).

The young actress actually reminds me a lot of the young Jodie Foster. Nobody doubted Jodie Foster's acting abilities, so what's different now? I just don't get it!
