Horribly written, directed and acted

This movie is supposed to be a comedy, but it wasn't funny at all. First off, you never get an actor to play a stand up, if they've never done stand up comedy. Wood Harris is a decent actor, but he'd not a comic. And the guy who played the owner of the club was god aweful. The stand up jokes were horrible. Really hacky and corny. A lot of the acting was bad. I mean Marla Gibb is a funny woman and I've never seen her act bad before, but she was bad in this. I probably blame the dialogue.

The movie was trying too hard to be a Tyler Perry movie, complete with horrible montage scenes. The movie couldn't decide if it wanted to be a comedy or a drama. I mean having a character have testicular cancer and then dying because the cancer spread to his brain and dying, kind of is a buzz kill.

I don't get why so many name actor signed on to this garbage? Did the director call in every favor he ever had? You can't tell me that they read the script and thought it was going to be good.

And one huge plot point that I didn't get was, he's a comic. He asks Zoe to transcribe his jokes. Why was he saying he was the new Michael Crichton? I guess it was a joke, that again wasn't funny.

Skip this one. Not really worth seeing.
