Bad screenplay lets this movie down

Hi guys,
I watched this movie last night with lots of expectations mainly bcos Kamal and Gautham are in it. But to be honest, it failed my expectations.

1. There is proper reason given for Prakashraj's move to NY.
2. What happened in those 9 months between the deaths of PR's girl and PR.
Wasn't there no investigation happened at all. And not even once PR contacted kamal to find out whats going on. After all, his girl is brutally murdered and he even says that he wanted the killers to be caught and punished just for the sake of cruelity the killer inflicted on a girl.

3. Jo's acting and dialogues were real dampeners to the movie.

4. The intro fight sequence with some local rowdies is only going to please the front benchers. When you are taking a movie on murder investigation, you don't introduce a top officer fighting with some rowdy elements. Mind you this is not Sivakasi or Thirupachi we are talking abt here(Those types of intro will work for those types of movies only)

5. Its not clear what makes Kamal to think there must be something wrong in that prohibited area (No Trespassing area - where Kamal talks abt his instincts)

6. There is no interest shown from NYPD as for the investigations are concerned.
Its not just one girl killed, its serial killing. Once Kamal reaches back India, its all down to kamal and TN police. Do you think in real life if 5 of the US citizens are killed by two serial killers, their parents/family wont get involved?

Overall its a not landmark movie. But its not Kamal's fault its the screenplay IMO.

Yes, there are a couple of flaws to the movie, but what did you expect from a tamil movie. I thought it was good for a "tamil" movie. Its different from all the other crap these stupid directors make. Over all i thought the movie was good.

All those are minor flaws in logic expected from any movie. They do not in any way, make the experience worse. This movie was quite good.

Ya dude .. whatever you had said is right .. but remember ... never compare indian movies with that of hollywood... Basically they have a world wide market whereas our people have got to satisfy all classes .. Including whom you call as front benchers ... SO .. if you want to crib about any movie .. you can do that for hell a lot more .. just look at the overall look and feel of the movie ..Its awesome man .. never expected a Tamil movie to be so posh in feel .. Its only because of Gautham and yes he has satified a hell a lot of people .. leaving the exceptions !

Well - the point that you have noticed these are good. But to me these are very minor... For example, Kaml just relates the time from the kidnapping to the time when the finger was cut to go into the tresspassing area! It was only a hunch that turned right.

The intro fight was a tamil way of showing that Raghavan was an upright and courageous police guy. Whats wrong in pleasing the front benchers!!!

The 9 month period could have been trimmed for making it pacy!

No one saw Kamal. They saw Raghavan.

But yes it is not a landmark movie. I did not except it to be one. I dont think Gautam can be expected to produce a landmark movie yet. H can make only good movies. He is not Kamal or Mani :-)

Yes, yes, at first i didin't want to watch this movie because you know how Tamil movies are... they are usually...generic. Boy meets girl, falls in love gets married and some fights in between and oh, terrible acting. I hate Tamil movies and i still do. But this movie is fantastic!!!!! the actors did a magnificent job. Jo's voice was so...wow. I'll give 10/10. Good job!

I don't usually watch Tamil movies as I'm not a Tamilian but at times I do get induced to watching a few that has built a reputation. This was one of those and I finished watching it yesterday. I have seen the originator of the therad who says that "Bad screen play lets this move down". I disagree. Firstly, as a movie of serial killer, it works. A lot of people, I see have commented on the gore and violence, but you cannot make a serial killer movi without gore. I felt the intro could've been avoided, a DC probably does not behave in that manner, but there are a lot of scenes later that requires him to fight and hence probably the opening scene was used to establish the fact. The movie is about 2 hrs, 54 mins. and could've benefitted from some trimming. Some of the songs could have been easily avoided. The Jyothika track could been eliminated (this I think is a flaw....seemed very contrived....crowd pleaser to provide Kamaal with something positive and close the movie with a "Thali Tying ending'). But IMO, these are minor issues and does not detract from the overall pace and feel of the film. The actual investigation scenes, based on which the movie progresses, have been done quite well.
