Seems to me that TSFM is partly about the biology-is-everything backlash, manifested in hyper pink-and-blue-ness and in the older generation (April's mom) insisting that [adoption is] "THE SAME" and April insisting "IT'S NOT". Opinions?

I think her view of bio vs adoption was different cause she's adopted. She thought of the bad things she had felt and thought she didn't want a child who would have those feelings. Then, as her brother said, she realised those children were out there anyway and NOT getting adopted was way worse...
