What was "The Perfect Doll?"

What exactly did Mary Shaw consider the perfect doll to be? Was it supposed to be some kind of robot/animatronic or just an ultra-complex puppet? The boy was just a corpse-marionette but I'm not sure what the woman would have been if Mary wasn't murdered.

BTW I like this movie and think it's really creepy. Deal with it. I like a lot of movies most people don't like.

The perfect doll was a human.

Me fail English? But, that's unpossible.

Maybe it was the dad's dead body as a puppet. Maybe it was the woman who "married" the dad. I mean, she wanted to become a puppet herself so she succeeded. And the drawing of the lady who "married" the dad was in her sketchbook.

The step mother was ALSO a doll. She was the most realistic human looking puppet.

ella was the perfect doll, Mary Shaw possessed her and controlled her she was her perfect doll, in the alternative ending it basically shows ella going to Mary's grave and mary basically offering her the revenge she wanted, because jamies dad pushed her down the stairs when she was pregnant causing a miscarriage

I didn't realize there was an alternate ending. Thanks. But I wonder how that sketch of Ella as the perfect doll got into Mary Shaw's sketch book. I think she made it while alive, which would have been before Ella was born. Did she somehow know, 50 years ahead of time, the identity of the woman she would one day possess?

Or was Ella actually a perfectly realistic puppet? Did Mary Shaw succeed in making the perfect doll? So perfect it could pass for a human? And if so, why did Mary Shaw want her corpse to be turned into a puppet before her burial? Was that supposed to do something, or was she prone to doing weird stuff for no reason?

@csz6399, Thanks for alerting us to the alternate ending. I just saw it and loved it! In my opinion the alternate ending would have really helped the movie. Also the deleted scenes would have been great in the movie.

A human. Like the child she never had.
