Really underrated Gem!

Since being a big fan of Amy Adams I just watched this one without knowing anything about it and was pleasantly surprised. I normally dont like movies with this kind of musical theme. It also had a genuine everyday feeling in it and some great acting.

The only thing that made it seem a little lowbudget was the camerawork (mostly tripod shots) and the office sets who were very studio looking in a bad way.

Finally Amy Adams shines like always and really show how versaitle she is as an actress being able to play both drama and comedy.

Yes she does a decent job, but the script is just awful. No nuances and way more telling than showing. Awful.

The singing is good though.

Awful script, decent performances and superb songs. I can't say this is a great film, but I like it more than most folks apparently do. 6/10 stars from me, thanks to a cast that made me care in spite of this film's many weaknesses.
