Great music, appalling movie - b grade rubbish

As someone who has recently picked up on their jazz studies where they left off many years ago, I was on the lookout for a good movie with some jazz standards, and was really happy to find this at the DVD store.

It turned out to be b grade rubbish. The acting is appalling, the plot is just terrible, and the entire premise is garbage.

The music is great - the songs are good, but everything else is horrible. Even when they perform the songs, you can tell he's not playing the piano, and the way the 'accoustics' change dramatically between them speaking, and singing, even though they're in the same room, is really annoying.

I'm not sure how anyone could have spoken positively of this pile of trash. Sure it's great to hear the music, but no-one could like the actual film in it's entirety, no-one.

Also - having gone through some of the user reviews and forum posts, I notice people keep mentioning Amy Adams. For the record I didn't know anything about her, I don't recall ever hearing her name, and if I've seen any movies with her I certainly don't remember her acting.

But watching this movie with my girlfriend, I was commenting on how appalling her acting was in this movie. It was just terrible. I actually thought it was worse than the main lead's acting (which was also terrible) but it seems most reviewers saw it the other way round.

No-one acted well in this movie. "Amy Adams" or not, she was terrible.

People talk about Amy Adams because she's a three-time Oscar nominee.
She might not be good in this movie, but she's pretty prolific.

She is indeed prolific – and I think she's fine in this movie. The script is a huge letdown, but the cast tries to make it work.

It might help if she could sing.
