Question on Lisa and Carlos's courtship

One thing I never got was how Lisa marrying Carlos would benefit Victoria. I know Victoria spent all of Lisa's trust fund money. So was Carlos a wealthy stock broker who managed the account? Why did Victoria demand Lisa marry Carlos, despite how abusive he was?

One thing I never got was how Lisa marrying Carlos would benefit Victoria.

Carlos was rich and would have provided well for Lisa, and since Victoria controlled Lisa's life/wardrobe/spending, Victoria would have benefited, too.
